Banner Series - LOL 128

We resume our feature on the banners carried by the various Newtownards lodges by taking a look at Apprentice Boys LOL 128.

The current standard carried by LOL 128 dates to 2014, when it was presented to gathered friends at an unfurling in Newtownards Orange Hall. The main image featured on the banner is the same that the lodge has displayed for many years on previous banners - that of King William III crossing the Boyne river.

The painting on the reverse is of the 13 apprentices closing the city of Derry gates in 1688 in the face of the approaching rebels, thus beginning the famous siege.

For many years, the lodge has also carried a smaller standard on parade.
